You will need:
-
A Flat screw-driver
-
A 5.5mm socket and driver
(optional)
-
A siren
-
Enough flex to connect the siren to the CapeClock and the Siren's
power supply to the CapeClock
-
A Power supply/transformer for the Siren (if
required)
-
Turn the power to
the CapeClock off.
-
Remove the CapeClock
from the wall (if you have already mounted it) by loosening the two
screws at the bottom of the clock sufficiently to remove the clock off
the bracket that is mounted on the wall. Take care, because when the
clock is pulled from the screws holding it to the wall-mounted bracket,
it will have nothing holding it up. To remove it from the wall-mounted
bracket completely, gently lower it, taking care that any wires that are
already connected are not strained.
-
Place the CapeClock
face-down on a protective cloth so that the readers and front are not
scratched.
-
You may remove the
back-plate (connected with 4 M3 galvanized nuts) to make it easier to
get at the connectors, but it is not necessary.
-
The output you will
need to use is marked "SIREN" (see
Figure 2 below). Connect the Live supply
to the center wire, and the live/positive input for the Siren
to the right hand side of the connector.
-
To do this,
loosen the screw of the terminal required, insert the wire into the
housing beneath the screw and tighten the screw onto the wire so that it
is kept firmly in place. Test that the wire is clamped firmly by gently
tugging the wire in the direction away from the connector.

-
Thus the wires will
be on the NO (Normally Open) input of the 3way connector. The left most
terminal output of the connector will be open (see Figure 1).
-
If the siren is
rated at a voltage other than your mains supply (220V/110V), then you
must obtain a transformer or power supply for it. DO NOT use the
CapeClock's supply to power the siren, even if it is rated at
12V DC. Use a separate power supply that is rated to deliver the current
required for it.
-
Connect the
neutral/negative wire from the siren opener to the neutral mains
wire/negative terminal of your power supply for the siren.
-
Replace the CapeClock
back onto its wall bracket, ensuring that the tongue of the back-plate
is inserted into the corresponding groove in the wall-mounted bracket.
Secure the CapeClock onto the wall-mounted bracket (see Figure 3) with the 2 Mounting
screws at the bottom of the CapeClock, ensuring that the cable cover
plate (see Figure 4) is correctly positioned.
